AUCKLAND ART GALLERY
Marylyn Mayo Internship
Marylyn Mayo had lifelong interests in education, law and the visual arts. She collected the work of Australian and New Zealand artists and enjoyed visiting art galleries, particularly the Auckland Art Gallery.
After her death in 2002, the Marylyn Mayo Foundation was established by her husband for the benefit of a number of causes. These are cancer research; The University of Auckland Law School for legal research, the Marylyn Mayo Rare Book Room, named in her memory at the Davis Law Library; the Auckland Art Gallery Marylyn Mayo Internships and Reading Room, a scholarly arts journal, to encourage training and research for the advancement and wider appreciation of visual arts.
As a result of this generosity, we're pleased to offer opportunities for internships at Auckland Art Gallery that develop the skills of people wishing to pursue a career in art galleries and art museums.
The Marylyn Mayo Internships at the Gallery offer training and work experience for a minimum of six weeks and a maximum of three months full-time, or for a longer time, to be negotiated, on a part-time basis to:
postgraduate or recent graduate students who intend to pursue a career in art galleries in the areas of care and management of collections, or the presentation, interpretation and communication of the visual arts
or
people currently employed in an art gallery or museum, or who have had some relevant experience and have an ongoing commitment to working in this area.
Specific internships are offered at the Gallery each year in particular areas, such as curatorial, education, public programmes, print and electronic publications, communications, research library, audience research and development, conservation, collection management, exhibitions management, imaging, design and exhibitions preparatory work.
TATTOO
A Tattoo internship is 2-year process where you learn the technical, health and safety aspects of tattoo under a tattoo artist or tattoo parlor. It is up to the parlor owner or a Tattoo Artist them self to take in an intern or apprentice and teach them the ways of tattooing.

Arts and Photography interns are involved with the photography assistant. Tasks for an intern at a
photography business may include:
General duties to assist the photography department, including gear wrangling, file and stock management.
On-location photography assistant duties.
Working with publications.
Making photo bookings.
Going with the photographer to jobs.
Taking photos for publication.

As well as gaining real design experience, you'll benefit from adding a global software brand/reference to your CV, learning about design to a global audience, and being part of a supportive and fun team. We combine automation and real human experts to deliver targeted retention marketing that gets results for fast-growing retail brands all over the world. Your job will be to work closely with our Marketing team to create a wide range of marketing graphics and videos based on our existing style guide. Examples of these include:

Skills Requirements:
Competence when following a style guide
Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects
An eye for visual composition
Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines

This role will be around 10 - 20 hours a week in-house (hours are flexible to fit with uni schedule).

You will need to be a good communicator and not afraid of asking questions. As we are a small team an ability to get on and work alongside others is essential.Organization and time management skills needed, as a lot of projects involve self-management and following processes.
Must speak fluent English and applicant must be permanent NZ resident or hold a valid NZ work permit.
