Alternative Southland - Warm, futuristic/highly modern, apocalyptic, cyberpunk, witchcraft/vintage, nature over running, steampunk,

Project Idea:
What if Southland was the capital of New Zealand because of its High Developing Technology and then all of a sudden there was a change in social order and now southland became run down and very lower class but with high class technology. A Place where people relied on technology to get through there day and where southland was no polluted with Technology useful and now useless.

Though I'm not into the neon aesthetic I am very curious about how to use neon colours in a way where it is not to overwhelming and balances out nicely to create a nice art work.
Rob Shield is a good example of this, though he uses Neon in this work he uses pastel Neons which it more of the colour pallet I like to use.
His work is based around Cyberpunk which is something I wish to explore, why? I personally have no idea. Maybe because I'm curious about how they mix Robots with humans, if the anatomy is different, how the proportions work, and the detailing used when it comes to designing the machine wear.

This art style is the type of Illustration I would like to do and experiment with as I do like the soft sketching look but also the fine line work.
It's Lopez work is focused around drawing people as Illustrations.
I would like to experiment with this Illustration style with the Cyber punk style, as well as working with the pastel neon colours.
Mixing this style and the Rob Shield would be quite interesting as this is more flowing and sketching while Rob's is more of a clean style and the colours and more block liked.

This is another style of Cyberpunk that I am interested in, the reason why I like this one as it is a lot darker and more mysterious. Instead of being fully neon and having all bright colours, this has dark black like colours and uses neon colours to create accents or highlights and detail to the art.
I would like to experiment and learn how to make the Illustration look like it is glowing and reflective effect.
I also like the way the neon and the black contrasts making the image not as dark as it would be if they didn't add the glowing effect or neon colours.

What is CyberPunk
Cyber Punk is a fictional world where everything is low life and high tech where technology is futuristic and advanced while also having a shifting social order.
An Alternative Southland that is cyberpunk would be a place where technology would overrule the population and became an idol for existence. Cyber punk is based around Neon art using bright colours while also incorporating ether pastel Neons or dark cool tone colours to make the Neons stand out more and become the main colour scheme of the art piece.
The style of people would be very cyborg like, because people are relying on technology. People would dress more for survival than fashion, colour wise would be very cool tone and neutral, though cyborgs (half human half robot) would be more colourful and brighter. They would have body parts that would have been changed to Robert parts.

Medium - Digital Art, mixing mediums and using photo manipulation and painting together to create an art piece.
Software - Photoshop, InDesign
Materials required - computer, photoshop, wacom tablet, wacom pen, sketchbook,

Test:
  • Would have to test colour palette, because cyberPunk is all about Neons this means that colours would all need to be complementary and on the same colour pallet/tone.
  • Would have to experiment/test how to mix human anatomy with robot anatomy, making sure it would realistically work and proportions are correct.
  • Test how to draw robot anatomy, understanding where certain things go and how they move and effect the person/drawing.

Outcome:
Neon portraits of cyberpunk/Cyborg people. That are targeted at sci fi fantasy audience, teenage to young adult audience. As because I am experimenting with Anatomy I would have to think of what is appropriate to show Anatomy wise and what I can experiment with.
I want to produce portraits of people with backgrounds of a run down southland.

Conclusion:
An alternative Southland would be a bright neon futuristic cyberPunk world. Where Technology overrules people. The digital art will be based more on people than on scenery, but will have backgrounds of a run down Southland. I will be experimenting with Cyborgs/People and technology. While also looking at the colour pallet of Neons and pastel Neons.
