"More than half of the world's oil paintings come from Da Fen in southern China. Located in China's manufacturing hub, Shenzhen, Da Fen thrives on the mass production of art. It exports millions of replicas of Van Goghs, Monets, and Picassos to the world, generating billions in revenue for painters who were once farmers or migrant workers. The founder of Da Fen, the 69-year-old artist Huang Jiang, spoke to BBC News about his miracle business model and the challenges his team faces now. Video journalist: Xinyan Yu"
China has the largest art fordergy in the world, as said in this video company's ask for a lot of paintings in a sort amount of time. They use cheep but quality materials so they can create a lot of works on a budget and get more for there money, though because of the online market the market that they are in is suffering because the online market can produce faster and quicker. Which I thought was interesting because I thought they would be working alongside with the online market. Though they have realised that the can not live of forderging art and they are better off making originals and learning how to make more meaningful and technical art which proves that you can not make a living off plagerising.
This one was quite sad to watch knowing that people make a living off doing this and it's not even a lot. they are still struggling to get by on doing these fake paintings.

"Meegeren (Henricus van) was the most successful and the most influential art forger ever. The specialty of Meegeren was Vermeer. With his fakes after Vermeer he amassed a fortune worth more than half a billion dollars in today’s currency. After the Meegeren exposure in 1945, a wave of self-criticism surged through the world’s art museums and many an Old Master or a Vermeer disappeared from their walls."

Walking around Dafen
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUTgRyiV-0Y
This video was quite strange to watch as it was just a walk up and around a street, the strangest part of it all was seeing how realistic and close the paintings looked to the original and how it would be very hard to see what would be a forged painting and what would be real. It was also crazy how fast these paintings would have been produced and how people are trained to do one painting over and over again and study it until it is identical to the real one.

Why is this bad?
This is bad because it can devalue art as famous paintings done by the old masters, or one could argue that it brings more value to the original piece as it will be harder to find the original and sell the original. This also brings a strain onto the art community as it will be harder for smaller upcoming artist to sell their works as they will have to be competing alongside with art forgery of famous paintings which sell very fast.
