Thought process for Week 3 Do I think this is possible in the amount of time I have? Do I have enough experience in photoshop to have this executed well? Is this project going to work and be successful? Am I confident I can do this project? Am I doing something out of my league? Can I execute this? I am having a lot of doubts today about my project and whether I am capable of doing it, I have basic minimal knowledge of photoshop. Though I do think it will be a great learning experience and will help me to learn how to properly use photoshop and will help with gaining more drawing experience as well. I am concerned about the time limit, will I be able to produce enough to full the book and everything be at a good consistent quality. So far I have learnt a few things already that have defiantly improved my work drastically. The main one has been the pressure sensitive button, it helps me get the look of using a calligraphy pen which is what I like and personal use for mine wor

Thought Process week 3  Why am I painting pin up girls? Closer to home? - how? am I reflecting myself in the sketches? what is so special about pinup girls? why am I doing a propaganda poster? Is this personal or not? I am doing a poster around the theme of "What I wear isn't consent?" Why? Is this personal or not? is this to do with my sexuality? or how I view sexuality? I do think my work is quite personal, as I am very passionate about equality and sexism.  This is an opportunity to not only express my opinion on this but also create a statement that will be seen. I want my works to have impact to get a message across, I want to express equality and normalize sex and flirtatiousness. Say its ok to be sexual and own your sexuality. I also want to bring awareness to consent, just because someone doesn't say no doesn't mean it's consent. This goes for male and female. look into female sexuality and consent. what you wear isn't related to b

IN CLASS WORK  Art viewing/making : installation practice Art Theorist/curator : Amelia Jones Art Viewing/Making : Installation Art Installation concentrates on the relationships between things and their contexts rather than the one object.  The meaning rather than ‘residing ‘in’ the object for the perceptive viewer to see it, is now seen to be something made in the encounter with the viewer. Then after I had done this and did some further research in style and how I wanted to execute the posters. I found a new artist model Patrick Nagel. His style is very two dimensional and doesn't have a lot of detail and is very loose, it's quite interesting and I would like to experiment with it and see if I can develop it to fit my project.      Once I had done some research into, Patrick Nagel. I had found myself not knowing how I was going to design these posters as how was I going to put a pinup girl into a modern perspective? This is when I created what seemed to be a "mood" board which had pictures of Bettie Page and Yvonne De Carlo for a start. I gathered images of them posing in iconic "pinup" ways. Then I got two images of examples of how pinup posters looked. This was a good idea to do as it created a blueprint or a starting point for creating the posters.  This is when I started to do some simple plans and brainstorming on how I was goin

Camera basics  Shutter speed - how long the shutter is open this allows light to come in for exposure. It is the noise the camera makes when taking a photo. The longer it is open the more prone to movement and blur it is. When using a long shutter speed make sure camera is on a steady tripod and is not prone to being bumped or moved. 1/8000s, 1/4000s,….. 1/30s, 1/15s, 1/8s, 1/4s, 1/2s, 1s (1”), 2s (2”) etc. Fractions of seconds = faster shutter, freeze motion, less blur Seconds to multiple seconds = slower shutter, long exposure, motion blur Minutes plus = very slow shutter, long exposure, star/light trails,  blurring people Aperture   - This is how much light you let in via lens. This not only affects the amount of light but this also affects the depth of field how much you let into view. small aperture means there will be a large depth of field. large aperture means there is a shallow depth of field making the subject it is focused on the main focus of the photo.  f/1.0,

SCRIPT “Pinup Girls” is a style that is more famously known during WWII, where they were used as an everyday advertisement to either recruit men for war or to sell insurance for war or selling the “ideal” stay at home wife with a teasing and flirtatious appearance. With this concept, I wish to develop the idea of “Sex sells”, as this was the main idea behind the pin-up girl advertisement scheme. Pin up girls were once just calendared posters for the male. But by 1800s they extended to an advertisement method. The also developed into posters that would display what the “ideal women” did, usually at home housework with a teasing and  flirtatious accent to it. As you can see in the two examples up here, I have an example of an advertisement for recruiting men for war, and the advertisement for the “ideal” stay at home wife. My question is - How can I reverse the original purpose of “pinup”, “sex sell”, to a political feminist statement of “what I wear isn’t cons
